Anonymous IMAT 2024 ranking: analysis
The anonymous ranking includes the scores of both EU and non-EU equivalent candidates.
The IMAT results of non-EU candidates residing abroad are placed in local rankings prepared by the universities. These IMAT non-EU ranking lists are published alongside the nominative ranking.
From the analysis of the 2024 IMAT ranking, we know that:
- The participants in IMAT 2024-2025 were 10.864, compared to 10,257 in 2023;
- The eligible candidates, those who scored at least 20 points, were 9.591, accounting for 88% of the total participants;
- The highest IMAT 2024 score was 87 points, achieved at a foreign location.

How to view IMAT results
To consult the EU and non-EU equivalent ranking:
- Go to Universitaly and log into your personal area;
- Click on “View your 2024 status” in the IMAT section;
- Select “Anonymous Results 2024/2025” and click the green button to view the results.
IMAT 2024 minimum score
The calculation of the minimum IMAT score is merely indicative, as it is unclear whether the lists, particularly those related to foreign locations, also include non-EU residents abroad, for whom local university-specific ranking lists are provided.
According to the decree on seats for English-taught medical courses, the IMAT 2024 places at state universities reserved for EU and equivalent resident candidates total 961 (compared to 921 in 2023), of which 919 are for medicine in English and 42 are for dentistry in English. There are 16 university locations for medicine in English and 2 for dentistry in English.
The places for non-EU candidates are 453, with 435 for medicine and 18 for dentistry.
The minimum IMAT 2024 score is 66.2 points, corresponding to the 961st position, recorded at the Bicocca University for the Bergamo location. However, if we also include non-EU places, at the 1,414th position, the minimum score is 62.8, obtained at a foreign location.

The IMAT ranking progresses more quickly compared to the ranking for Medicine in Italian and has a higher rate of withdrawals, as many candidates attempt both the IMAT and the Medicine test in Italian and, if they pass both, opt for the latter.
Let’s see what happened in 2023. The minimum score after the anonymous IMAT ranking was 46.7 points and 34.9 points at the first allocation.
The ranking closed in June after 28 rounds of allocations. The minimum score dropped to 32.4 points for Medicine in English, recorded at the University of Bari and the University of Catania, and 35.2 points for Dentistry in English at Siena.
We also expect a similar drop of about 2 points for the IMAT 2024 minimum score.

- October 3, 2024, candidates can view their test results and score in the IMAT 2024 section on Universitaly;
- October 10, publication of the IMAT 2024 nominative ranking, also on Universitaly, and of the local rankings about non-EU candidates;
- October 17, first IMAT 2024 cut off.
